Someone in South Africa awoke this morning beaming after scooping the over R73 million Powerball prize last night.

One person has won the R72 989 769.37 Powerball jackpot from the January 10 draw, according to the National Lottery website.
According to the website, the winning numbers were 8, 22, 27, 37, 50, and Powerball 9.
A winner of the second division Powerball who correctly selected five numbers also received R443,550.50 in prize money.
The Powerball jackpot had rolled over 12 times, according to National Lottery Ithuba on Tuesday, and if won, the winner would be the first multimillionaire for 2023.
A Joburg senior won R135 million in the most recent Powerball jackpot in November.
The second-highest Powerball jackpot winner for 2022 resides in Rosettenville.
Charmaine Mabuza, CEO of Ithuba, stated that eight multimillionaires were made from PowerBall in 2022.
According to Ithuba, prize winners who won R50,000 or more received free trauma counselling from licenced psychologists and free financial guidance from licenced financial advisers.

Only prizes up to R50 000 are deposited straight into a winner’s account for individuals who play through banking methods.
“For winners over R50,000, the bank will notify the winner through SMS and contact them by phone to advise them of their win and recommend them to their nearest Ithuba office to submit their winning claim,” it says.
